Here are some pictures I took at a mossy lava field accessible from a highway in the south of Iceland.
This area was one of the cleanest green landscapes I’ve been in, in terms of walking around barefoot in it. The lava here has long since hardened into rock, and is covered by pioneering moss, one of the first forms of plant life to take root on new terrain. The only insects which seemed to be around were of the flying variety: flies which flew into one’s face, but didn’t bite.
